Open Play: A New Structure

This Open Play, which happens on Saturday, April 14th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., we’re introducing a new way to keep both the spirit of Open Play’s free play going while still having a bit of competition going.

How? Well, we’re introducing Spot•Light, w

here every Open Play we will feature a new game, to add a bit of variety to the scene. However, we’ll also be keeping score on who does well in the Spot•Light, and at the end a Spot•Light Elite will be announced. Keeping it Open Play, however, there will be no age limit or prizes, just a fun competition to see who will come out on top in each month’s Spot•Light game.

I created this new part of Open Play when one of our top competitors, Skiddz, asked if he could bring in Super Mario Strikers to mix things up and put it on the Big Screen. I thought it was a good idea, and wanted to expand on it. So be sure to thank him next time you see him. :D From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the game will be up for people to play in a custom rules set Skiddz wants to play, and then from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., we’ll be keeping track of people’s wins. After 3:00 p.m., we’ll have ourselves our first ever Spot•Light Elite.

If anyone else has a game they’d like to feature for May, you’re welcome to talk about it with me via AIM (plausiblefarce) or sign up and PM me on the GameBoard. You can also post in the comment section and we can discuss it there.

I’ll see you all on Saturday! Mario Kart: Double Dash, DDR, Smash Melee, Pokemon Battles (our last shot at Advance Generation Battles? Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are almost out!) , and our Spot•Light game, Super Mario Strikers!
